Check it out! There are new photos and concert posters in the gallery! Earlier this year I had finished getting this website up to speed in terms of design and functionality (with exception to the turkish section). However, I found myself unable to find time to take things to the next step: actually fill the site with content. The gallery was easily the most lacking part of the site and now I bit the bullet and finally put stuff in there to look at. I plan to take new press photos soon for the upcoming release and post those as well.

My friend Mark got me into You’re The Man Now Dog a few years back, also known as YTMND. If you don’t know what You’re The Man Now Dog is, it’s kind of hard to explain at first. The website describes themselves as “a site created for the purpose of furthering the creativity of its users. It stems from an idea that, using sound, and image, and some text, the users can convey a point, funny, political, or otherwise, to the general media.” Here’s a classic example.

This is really a form of art in a way. But the best part about it to me is how raw ytmnd’s can be. They’re just jagged webpages with tiled pixelated pictures and low quality sound. No interactivity, no flashiness, nothing but what it is. Yet there’s always an extreme bit of creativity in the juxtaposition of the images with the sound and the occasional text. Sometimes it’s random humor spawning internet memes, other times there’s good points being made in a creative way.

Take for example Lindsay Lohan Never Changes Facial Expressions. What I love about this ytmnd is that it points out the superficiality of this pop icon who shows up on the covers of stupid beauty magazines while brilliantly being paired up with the Eric Prydz’s remix of “Valerie” by Steve Winwood. Why this song? Who cares, it’s funny. And it works for some reason. The point here is that this “beautiful person” is seemingly a one-sided. I just think it’s really creative.

Anyway, you get the point. Here’s some of my favorites I’ve come across:
